see the winner's artworkComments from Wacom: Utilizing a nature theme, "Act Naturally" by Buge from the Philippines, is a wonderful example of great coordination of colors, materials, as well as lighting--the effective use of shadows and spotlighting enhance the page's impact. It looks as if it is being shown in a gallery! Great job!
Q1. Tell us about your winning artwork. Where did the idea come from?
The idea for my layout actually started with the kit I used, Call of Nature by Joe Designs. I'm a nature lover and I really love that kit since it is nature themed. I really wanted to create something with it so I looked for a photo that would fit it. I chose elements and papers that would match the colors on the photo and I used the Give Me Green Alpha by Fuchsia to give the page a more natural effect and chose a wordart that would be perfect for the theme and the photo.
Then I played around with the shadow settings in Photoshop to give the page a more realistic look. Everything just fell into place perfectly.
Q2. When did you start digital scrapbooking? How did you know find out digital scrapbooking?
I started digital scrapbooking in July of 2006. I found out about it through a friend's blog which I was stalking. I saw one of her layouts and she had links to great freebies. I started downloading some free kits and tried creating a page and I have been hooked on the hobby ever since. Now I can't imagine my life without it.
Q3. Is the woman in the photo you? It looks really fun! Tell us your memory at the moment. Can you please share with us?
Yes, that's me on the right side, with my legs raised. Haha! My friends and I went to this park a few years ago and had loads of fun during the trip. It's the Minalungao National Park in Nueva Ecija, Philippines. We trekked by the riverside and even went into this small cave which led us to the other end of the river. We had lunch on the river bank and we ate using our bare hands. After eating the yummy food they prepared for us, we took a dip and had fun in the water. Then we rode a bamboo raft on the our way back to the main entrance. I really love the outdoors and one way to enjoy it is to be part of it and explore it. I'll never forget this memorable trip.
Q4. Who has influenced your artwork?
I get a lot of influences and inspirations from everything around me... from the photos, to the digital scrapbooking kits, to the numerous artworks that other people create. The digital scrapbooking community has got so much talent you're sure to find inspiration everywhere. But those who greatly influence me are those who are in my teams, both the designers that I create for and the layout designers that I work with. They're all very talented and everyone is just so nice and helpful and they inspire me a lot. And they all have such different styles. They all influence me in so many different ways.
